Global Education Study
I am seeking to better understand the experiences of adults involved with global education and educational travel. I want to hear from people who have seen this work up close and can speak candidly about what makes it meaningful, difficult, and sometimes contradictory. This is an opportunity to reflect on the choices, values, and tensions that shape the field—and to contribute perspectives that are often missing from formal research. Your experience can help build a richer, more grounded understanding of how global education is actually lived and practiced.
If you are an administrator and/or educator involved with global education programming OR if you work as a guide, chaperone, or in the field of educational travel (domestic or international), I’d love to hear from you! This study is IRB-approved and will contribute to existing literature on sustainable tourism, global competency, and paradox navigation.
If selected to participate in this study, you will be asked to participate in a 60 minute video interview at a time of your choosing.

Risks or Discomforts:
A risk of participation is a loss of confidentiality. We will do everything we can to protect your information. You may feel uncomfortable when completing the interview. You may skip any questions or stop participating at any time.
Benefits:
There is no direct benefit to you from participating in this study. Your participation may help us learn more about how people navigate complex situations.
Confidentiality:
Your part in this research is confidential. That is, the information gathered for this project will not be published or presented in a way that would allow anyone to identify you. Information gathered for this project will be password protected or stored in a locked file cabinet and only the research team will have access to the data.
The University of Massachusetts Boston Institutional Review Board (IRB) that oversees human research and other representatives of this organization may inspect and copy your information.
Voluntary Participation:
The decision whether or not to take part in this research study is voluntary. If you do decide to take part in this study, you may end your participation at any time without consequence. If you wish to end your participation, you should directly tell the researcher. Whatever you decide will in no way penalize you.

Recording
This study involves the audio and video recording of your interview with the researcher. Neither your name nor any other identifying information will be associated with the recording or the transcript. Only the researcher team will be able to access the recordings.
The recordings will be transcribed by the researcher and erased once the transcriptions are checked for accuracy. Transcripts of your interview may be reproduced in whole or in part for use in presentations or written products that result from this study. Neither your name nor any other identifying information will be used in presentations or in written products resulting from the study.
Immediately following the interview, you will be given the opportunity to have the recording erased if you wish to withdraw your consent to recording or participation in this study.
